WTC Moscow represented by the General director Mr. Vladimir Strashko took part in the World Chambers Congress on June, 12-14 in Rio-de-Janeiro.
The delegation of Chamber of Commerce headed by Mr. Sergei Katyrin (the President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI Russia), Vice-President of the WTC Moscow Board of Directors) included Mr. Sergey Bednov (General Director of EXPOCENTRE), Moscow Government representatives and Heads of regional CCIs.
Two plenary sessions, panel discussions, and a few round tables took place at the congress, where the experts analyzed actual themes of CCIs development. At the «The aims in the area of stable development. Climate changes: the advantages of low carbon economy» plenary session the following questions were put on discussion:
- «Redefining education system: skills for global economy of the future»
- CCIs adaptation to cyber transformation,
- New borders in the area of trade processes facilitation,
- Changes in trade law under developing world economy.
Mr. Sergey Katyrin hold a meeting with Mr. John Denton (the Secretary General of the International Chamber Of Commerce) and with Mr. Hamad Buamid (the World Chambers Federation of the International Chamber of Commerce, the Head of Dubai CC). They discussed the organization of the World Chambers' Federation (WCF) executive committee meeting in conjunction with the expanded meeting of the General Council WCF.
Mr. Sergey Katyrin noticed it would be logical for the WCF inspection team to visit Russia taking into account the Moscow’s application to organize the World Congress in the heart of the country in 2023.
At the end of last year the CCI Russia secured the support of the President of Russia and presented its candidature at the competition to host the World Chambers Congress in Moscow in 2023. Support from the government is a key criteria for the determination of the Congress host-country.
The CCI of Russia is a recognized institute for entrepreneurship and economic development in the country. Katyrin explained that the ССI, at the same time, has an active position on the international stage: it actively works on deepening and further integration of Russian businesses in the world economic system, achieving new levels of partnership within the EEC, the CIS, the Union State, SCO, BRICS and other organizations. In order to achieve these goals a set of relations with foreign partners were developed: a number of full-time and emeritus representatives work in many foreign countries along with more than 70 Business councils created with foreign states. The Chamber is a member of many international cooperation networks, it creates partnerships with Chambers of other countries and is a part of the international CC unions. In case if Moscow wins, it will be the first time the World Congress of Chambers of Commerce is held in Russia.
Partners discussed a number of questions of mutual interest. Mr. Sergei Katyrin met the Head of Qatar Chamber Khalif bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. According to Qatar colleagues, the exhibition, which offers many great opportunities of Moscow, made a great impression on him.
Moscow was presented by the collaborative exposition of the Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Moscow. The principal aim of the exhibition was the presentation of the CCI’s application for the right to host the World Congress of Chambers in 2023.
The display was one of the largest at the exhibition and covered an area of 54 m2. The space gave visitors an opportunity to get all the useful information – the interactive touch-panels and multimedia screens told the participants a story about Moscow and the Chambers of Commerce system in Russia. The clips about Moscow, RF CCI, WTC Moscow, EXPOCENTRE, SOUYZEXPERTIZA and the animated screen saver were projected on the video wall stating: «Moscow – the Chamber of Commerce Russia – 2023». At the top of the stand a multimedia frieze was placed displaying the information about Moscow, the CCI of Russia, the WTC, EXPOCENTRE and SOUYZEXPERTIZA.
Qatar greeted the CCI’s application and pointed out the good prospects of the Russian Chamber.
Respectful politicians, heads of international economic institutions, leaders of world business, representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) take part in the prestigious World Chambers Congress that takes place every other year alternately on each continent. Key themes: international economic cooperation and actual questions of entrepreneurship development. The results of the current competition for the right to host the Congress will be announced in the first 6 month of 2020.
