Russian Regions

Togliatti, Samara Region

Togliatti (until 1964 Stavropol) - a city in the Samara region, the administrative center of the Stavropol region and a city of regional importance. The city is part of the Samara-Togliatti agglomeration. Togliatti is located on the left bank of the Volga river, its population in 2017 was 710 567 people, thus Togliatti became the largest city in Russia that is not the center of the subject of the federation.

The Republic of Crimea

The Republic of Crimea is a region of the Russian Federation and is a part of the Southern Federal District. Formed March 18, 2014 as a result of the inclusion of part of the Crimean Peninsula into the Russian Federation. The capital is the city of Simferopol. The republic includes 25 administrative-territorial entities: 14 districts and 11 cities, the largest of which are Simferopol, Yalta, Kerch, Evpatoria, and Feodosia. The number of the resident population of the republic, according to the preliminary results of the 2014 census, is 1,889,400 people.


As an administrative and territorial unit, the Saratov region was formed on December 5, 1936. It is located in the south-east of the European part of Russia and is part of the Volga Federal District. The area of ​​the region is 101.2 thousand square kilometers. The administrative-territorial structure of the region includes 38 municipal districts, 3 closed administrative-territorial units and the administrative center of the Region - the city of Saratov (founded in 1590). Major cities: Saratov, Engels, Balakovo, Balashov, Volsk.

The Sverdlovsk Region

The Sverdlovsk Region was formed on January 17, 1934 with the city of Ekaterinburg as the administrative center. On the territory of the Sverdlovsk Region there are 47 cities, 26 workers' settlements and urban-type settlements, 1841 rural settlements. Local self-government is exercised on the territory of 94 municipalities. The Sverdlovsk Region is located 2000 kilometers east of Moscow, on the border of Europe and Asia, at the intersection of transcontinental flows of raw materials, goods, financial, labor and information resources.

The Tomsk Region

The Tomsk region is located in the south-eastern part of Western Siberia, its area is 314.4 thousand square kilometers. The region is part of the Siberian Federal District. According to the 2010 census, the population of the Tomsk region is 1 047 394 people. 70.2% of them live in cities, 29.8% live in rural areas. The average life expectancy is 68.1 years. The average age of population is 37.3 years, which is 1.7 years less than the all-Russian average. In the region 120 nationalities and minorities live, including representatives of 22 nationalities of the North. Russians account for 90.8% of the total number of inhabitants, Tatars - 1.9% and Ukrainians - 1.6%.

The Khabarovsk Territory

The Khabarovsk Territory was formed on October 20, 1938 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On the division of the Far Eastern Territory into the Khabarovsk and the Primorskiy Territories." The region covers an area of ​​787,633 square meters and occupies the 3rd (4th) place among the subjects of the Russian Federation. Together with the main, continental part it includes several islands, the largest of which are Shantarskiy. The total length of the coastline is about 2500 km, including the islands - 3390 km. According to the data for 2017 the population of the region is 1 333 294 people.

The Republic of India

The Republic of India is a country in the South Asia and borders to Pakistan in the West, China, Nepal and Bhutan in the Northeast, Bangladesh and Myanmar in the East. Also the country has maritime boundaries with the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The area of ​​India is 3,287,263 square kilometers, the country is divided into 29 states and 7 union territories, the capital is New Delhi. The population is 1 329 356 004 people. The official languages ​​are Hindi and English. India is a federal state.

The Republic of Croatia

The Republic of Croatia is a country in the South of Central Europe, partly in the West of the Balkan Peninsula. The country borders to Slovenia in the North, Hungary and Yugoslavia in the East, Bosnia in the South. The area of ​​Croatia is 56538 square kilometers. The capital and the largest city is Zagreb. The state gained independence in 1991, before that it was a union republic within Yugoslavia. To date Croatia is a parliamentary republic with the president as the head of the state. The population as of January 1, 2014 is 4,246,809 people.

The Republic of Poland

The Republic of Poland is a country in the Central Europe. The population, according to the results of the poll of 2015, is 38 623 221 people, the territory is 312 679 sq.m. The country occupies the thirty-sixth place in the world in terms of population and the sixty-ninth in terms of territory. Poland is a unitary state, a parliamentary republic. The Republic of Ghana

The Philippines is a country in Southeast Asia. It consists of more than 7,000 islands in the Pacific Malay Archipelago. The state gained its final independence in 1946. The official language is Tagalog. The population of the Philippines is 101,562,306 people as of 2015 (12th in the world), of which 65% are urban.
