Togliatti, Samara Region

Togliatti (until 1964 Stavropol) - a city in the Samara region, the administrative center of the Stavropol region and a city of regional importance. The city is part of the Samara-Togliatti agglomeration.

Togliatti is located on the left bank of the Volga river, its population in 2017 was 710 567 people, thus Togliatti became the largest city in Russia that is not the center of the subject of the federation.

Local self-government bodies are formed on the basis of the city Charter, adopted by the decision of Togliatti City Council in 1996. since April 11, 2017 the Togliatti local government head has been Mr Sergei Antashev, elected by the deputies of the Togliatti City Duma.

Modern Togliatti is a large industrial and economic center that plays an important role in the economy of both the region and the country as a whole. By the order of the Government of the Russian Federation it was included in the list of single-industry cities of the Russian Federation with the most difficult social and economic situation.

According to the estimation of the portal RBC.ru Togliatti is at the top of the list of the most attractive cities for doing business in Russia: ranked 11th in 2009, 12th in 2008, 6th in 2007. In 2013 the city of Togliatti ranked 11^th among 250 largest industrial centers of Russia.

The main enterprise is PJSC AvtoVAZ. In addition to AvtoVaz there are automobile plants GM-AvtoVAZ and VAZINTERService, OJSC Combine of Champagne Wines and Cognacs, Togliattikhleb OJSC, Togliattimoloko OJSC, motor transport enterprise AvtoVAZtrans, brick and reinforced concrete plant, automotive components manufacturers OJSC "Tolyatti Plant of Technological Equipment", "Detailed Construction", Powder Metallurgy Enterprise "Planeta" LLC, Polad ("Valeo" and "Faurecia") "Automotive Components Plant" with Otto Bock, "Gestamp" JSC AvtoKomponent Togliatti, factories "Togliatti Transformer", cement engineering of JSC "Volgotsemmash", Togliatti ship repair plant.

There is a special economic zone organized in an industrial area near the city and it has "Nobel Automotive"; CIE Automotive; "Edscha"; «HI-LEX» and others on its territory.
